The Department of Cognitive Neurology is located at the University Medical Center Göttingen (UMG) and is headed by Prof. Dr. Melanie Wilke. Our department hosts the core facility MR-Research in Neurosciences headed by PD Dr. Peter Dechent. The Cognitive Neurology Group at the DPZ is a satellite of our department at the UMG.
We aim to understand the neural basis of conscious perception and how it relates to the selection and execution of action plans. Our research applies a multi-modal approach that combines causal brain perturbation methods with fMRI and electrophysiological recordings in healthy humans and patients suffering from e.g. stroke.
